The Yugas
Sanatan mythology bifurcates time into four Yugas of span these are Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapara yug and Kali yuga.According to Shrimad bhagwatam, One of the earliest knw text describing about the Yugas,
Duration And Yugas
Satyug equals to 4800 years of demigods, Treta yug equals to 3600 years of demigods, Dwapara yug equals to 2400 years and kaliyug (present yuga) equals to 1200 years of demigods.
Now Point to be remembered is that the time is not in 1200 years but 1200 years of demigods. You might be thinking it's the same but it's not let me clarify.
According to the same text 1 year of demigods is equal to 360 years on earth (360x).
Timeline Ratio
Observe closely the values of demigod years ( 4800,3600,2400,1200) are in a ratio of 4:3:2:1. Isn't That amazing 🤩
Also, The duration of the Yugas is as follows (understand the values )
1) 4800 divine years= 17,28,000 human years= Satya yuga
2) 3600 divine years =12,96,000 human years= Treta Yuga
3) 2400 divine years=8,64,000 human years
4)1200 divine years=4,32,000 human years= Kali Yug.
The Present Yuga
Kali Yug is the present yuga.
Kaliyuga is considered to be the last and darkest age among the four eras. It is claimed to have begun at the end of the Dwapara Yuga and is estimated to last for 432,000 years. During Kaliyuga human values and morality are continuously declining, and people are becoming increasingly materialistic and greedy. Society becomes corrupt and immoral and evils become common.
